People are invited to a meeting in Chipping Norton to share their views on new ways to deliver primary care. This includes day to day services available at GP surgeries, pharmacies and other local providers.

The event is being organised by the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) North Oxfordshire Patient and Public Forum (NOLF) and will be held on Tuesday 14 November 2017 (7.30pm to 9pm) in Chipping Norton Town Hall.

In July 2017, NOLF held a meeting in Banbury to gather people’s views on primary care services; these were fed back to local GPs.  This latest event is a further opportunity for local people in North Oxfordshire including Chipping Norton and the surrounding areas to have a say on the future of primary care.

The meeting in November will highlight the challenges facing primary care across the country; these include a growing older population, recruitment of new doctors and providing care closer to home. People who attend the event will be able to share their views on local GPs’ priorities for a more sustainable primary care service in north Oxfordshire which can meet these challenges.

All feedback from the meeting will be presented to the CCG’s North Locality Group of GPs to support them in making recommendations for the development of primary care in the locality. This is being led by the CCG in line with its Primary Care Framework, which sets out a vision for the future of primary care services in Oxfordshire over the next five years.

Mrs Anita Higham, chair of the North Oxfordshire Patient and Public Forum, said: “I would urge local people to attend the meeting to tell us their views on priorities for developing primary care services in North Oxfordshire.  The meeting in Banbury in the summer allowed people to tell us the sort of local GP services they wanted. These views have been already been fed back to commissioners to help them develop services.”

Anita added: “It is important patients help shape local health services because they are often the first port of call for people who feel sick or need advice, so we want a service that meets their needs.

"We are also grateful that at the meeting in November we will be joined by Dr Shelley Hayles from Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group."
