QOF Resources

Guidance and information relating to the Quality Improvement Modules of the 2020-21 Quality and Outcomes Framework is provided below.

Practices are required to complete these elements over the course of the year.

Final guidance from NHS England was published early in September and can be found at QOF Guidance 2020-21 (guidance pp. 10-15, reporting templates pp 32-33). Practice leads for learning disabilities and cancer should note the changes made to requirements for these modules since the publication of earlier guidance prior to COVID-19.

 LSOA Spreadsheet:

If practices wish to see the list of postcodes in the 20% deprived areas then please refer to The table GP Practices Most Deprived LSOAs’ which  gives the K codes for each of the OCCG practices. Each row is labelled with an E number which corresponds to the deprived postcodes listed in the other table labelled Postcodes 20%LSOA.

 EMIS Searches:

 The CSU analytics team and the clinical leads have worked together to develop relevant searches for practices to use to identify and prioritise patients most at risk from COVID-19. These searches are now available and can be found on EMIS Enterprise within the folder SCW ALL Practices, OCCG,AH13605:QOF Risk Stratification Searches. Please Copy and run them into your own search folders and run them as frequently as you need.

 QOF COVID Update:

 This document gives details of how QOF has been restructured in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Practices should understand that it contains the points allocated for the following in tables:

 Table 1: Changes to flu vaccination and cervical screening indicators

 Table 2: Disease register indicators

 Table 3: Prescribing named medications

 Table 6: Income protected indicators (the CSU searches can be used for population risk stratification or the practice can use their own searches ) Searches should take into account and include:

a) those most vulnerable to harm from COVID-19; evidence suggests that this includes patients from BAME groups and those from the 20% most deprived neighbourhoods nationally (LSOAs)

b) those at risk of harm from poorly controlled long-term condition parameters;

c) those with a history of missing reviews.

 The practice must also  commit to making referrals to existing and any new weight management programmes To note, alerts should be kept active, including for indicators that are income protected. This will help to ensure that practices are able to provide and record opportunistic care, where appropriate to do so including any personalised care adjustments. NHS England and NHS Improvement will continue to collect achievement data on all indicators including those which are income protected.

 The QI components of QOF are detailed in pages 10 to 16
